2010 Season - Pre Season Guide
Draft Day
We are 4 weeks way from the 2010 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft which will take place at BUMS HQ on Monday evening August 30th. The draft will be at 4.30pm and should be done by 7.30pm. It will be followed by some of Cheryl’s fine fare, possibly barbecued and then at 8pm ESPN America are showing one of The Jets Dolphins games from last year to whet our appetites for the upcoming season. No spoilers please, all are welcome .Attached is the player price spreadsheet including all the players 2009 scores & how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you’ll have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. This year’s good, bad and ugly big names becoming available include Quarterbacks Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger and Jason Campbell, Running Backs Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch and Ryan Grant & Receivers Terrell Owens and Wes Welker as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. . They are released onto the open market together with 24 rookies - see the rookie report attached. The player pool is based on the depth charts listed by KFFL.com. It has produced a few surprises, Broncos first round draft pick Tim Tebow is still listed at 3 on the depth chart so it is Orton and Quinn who make the player pool while KFFL have decided Favre is definitely coming back and have listed him as the Vikings starter. Some interesting choices on kickers too resulting in 2 kickers who are highly ranked not making the BUMS player pool. They have Neil Rackers losing out to incumbent Kris Brown in the Houston Training Camp battle & Jon Carney also unavailable.
Draft Order and Franchise Players
John will have the first pick in the draft and Johnnie the final choice. The full draft order, budgets available & franchise players are attached. Craig will have an extra pick at the end of the 5th round to compensate for having only 1 Franchise player and Wayne will pick after Craig at the end of the 5th round as he has cut his 2009-10 Franchise man Steve Slaton. In the annual re-naming, David S changes the French (Old) Farts to Les French Miserables to celebrate his consecutive season in the Conference.
Trading DaysYou will have 2 opportunities to make changes. Cheryl is already looking towards Trading Day 1 on Sunday 17th October before week 6’s games – her franchise RB Lendale White is currently a free agent. Trading Day 2 will be on Sunday 14th November before week 10 and prior to the BUMS on Tour of Texas. Get these dates in your diary.
Season Kick-Off Game
The first game of the season is a repeat of last years NFC Championship game, The Vikings @ The Saints. Sky should show the game live in the early hours of Friday September 10th and we’ll get together later that evening. Venue to be confirmed. See you on August 30th.
